Road noise after Hurst shifter install

I put a Hurst in my 01Z last night and it shifts great but I get quite a bit of road noise and air noise. I think it's due to the fact that the rubber plate the bolts over the base of the shifter doesn't seal against the shifter like the stock one did. Is there any good solution to this?

make yourself a new gasket out of some white polyethylene foam packing film... The type of material that wraps around and insulates new electronic components.

I had the same problem, I put alot of teflon tape on the shift **** threads, then re-installed ****. no more noise!

You can get the stock rubber boot to seal around the Hurst base by carefully taking and X-Acto knife and trimming it to the right diameter.

My solution was to remove and sell the Hurst. I couldn't get the noise to stop and hated it.

Mine never had any noise that other people talk about.
I guess some people are just too sensitive..

A heavy, tight fitting ****, would probably help. I have always had the Hurst ball.

Mine wasn't the ****, did it even with no shift **** in place.

Take out the demon pin and wrap the threads with teflon tape. I did this to mine when I went back to the stock shift **** and ALL road noise subsided. You'll be able to freely twist the **** around if you want to but it stays put quite well actually.
