I think it has always been a known fact that the air bridge upgrarde was a cosmetic mod rather than a power mod :)

If somebody could get the cross sectional area of the smallest portion of the air bridge, you could figure out what air flow potential it has, thus figuring what horsepower level it can support. Without getting the actual measurements, I am would venture to say that the air bridge would become a restriction with large displacement or extremely high power heads/cam vehicles. The idea is not to support the exact amount the engine needs to produce the number, but have some head room in the ability as not to become the most restrictive portion. The less restriction, the easier the system will deliver the air.
I agree the stock set up with some mods would not need a new air bridge.
