Filled up with gas and then went to put gas cap back on and it will not tighten. It barely makes the ratchet noise while turning and just comes back off the hose bib in my hand. I have never heard of such a problem. Anyone else have this happen and is it fixable? Or do I have to go to the stealership to get a new one? It is a 2004 Lemans Edition Vert.

It is only a $13.00 part at the dealers. Considering what many people pay for a custom cup of coffee, this seems almost reasonable even for the dealer. Maybe want to bite the bullet on this one...
A nonsealing gas cap will set a "check engine" light. It will go away after you replace the cap and drive it sometime (may have to go through multiple start cycles).

Got a new cap today at the stealership....$21.00 plus tax!!!!
Hey, except for the door panel plug, that's got to be about the least expensive part you're likely to ever buy for the vette (especially from the dealership). Count your blessings.
