Water pump leaking.....I think.
I believe it may be time for a new water pump. It started out as a few drips and has not advanced to puddles and having to add fluid. It drips on the passenger side onto the leaf spring (?). Anyway, sounds like it to me. Any way to check absolutely before I lay down the cash? Could it just be a gasket? or is it most likely the pump? BTW, I have 47,500 on my ;03.
Also, where do those that have replaced them, buy them from? I checked on-line and the best I could find was $198.....YEOH!! Anyone have any issues with ones from Auto Zone or Kragen? Are they cheaper? (guess I should call, huh).
Anyway, and experience / advise would be appreciated.
Unless you go with a performance unit, try GM first (forum vendor). Leaking on passenger side, I would also check hoses, hose connections and recovery tank. The pump usually drips from the pulley shaft when it goes.
I had the same issue about 8 months ago. It was leaking from the shaft and spraying it around so that it looked like it was leaking from the passenger side. When the car has cooled down, feel below the shaft and see if there is coolant. I bought a new Bosch water pump from Pep Boys. It even had a GM part number stamped on it. Only took about an hour to install. There’s a good write up on the installation process somewhere on this site.

Thanks. So no issues with the Bosch? It's $65 less then the best I could find online for a GM replacement.
