Can anyone tell me how to take the Intake Duct (Stock) OFF of the air filter box??? I have the coupler off, and the band loose at the air filter box...but it will not move, budge , twist or pried off! How the #^LL does it come off???????
Thanks guys once again, for helping a girl out..
Paula
Paula..............it's been awhile, but I believe it simply pulls off. I'd run to the garage and check but I put the old one up in the loft area.
My bad.I went out and there it was:smash: Try ininserting a small flat bladed screwdriver under the rubber collar that is on the factory air box. It may be just stuck.
I would think it would pull off, but it will not budge...I can see the sleeve down into the intake duct....I am tempted to just sit myself on the engine and pull! haha
Be careful with this plan. when removing it from the duct, the band that holds it on will always break, and I have never found a dealer who stocks this part!

Paula........if I remember correctly ( I'll run to the garage...BRB)
Plan B...try shooting some WD 40 on it and try working a small screw driver around it...........the rubber must be a lil stuck. See if that works.
Not working..I am so short I have to about crawl into the engine compartment! Would someone fly in and do this for me?????
Getting a tad :mad :mad :mad
I used a longish cresent wrench as a lever to pop it out. Put it in on the side or in the middle (on the other side of the hood) and pry. It will pop out. There's two cone shaped rubber plugs that are sticking into the nose of the car. Don't be afraid to give it some muscle. Or use physics to your advantage and use a prybar...
Now I have the whole air filter & stuff out... or hanging there... problem is I can't get to it..short arms, ya know... Yes, I tried a hammer! Geezes, it cannot be this difficult...Is it this hard to get back on?????? I have been trying since NOON!
OK, WD-40 here i come!

Paula,
If you can't get it off then I will be happy to go over and break it off....err I mean help you take it off ;) It'll be a few hours tho. :) I need to take you something to have painted for me anyway. :)
I'm glad you guys who've responded know what Paula is talking about. I have no idea where she is having problems from her description. Too bad there is no picture. Removal of all the intake duct parts is extremely easy except for the MAF which is in there real tight.
There is one trick to removing the big plastic duct in that those studs that pin it to the radiator shroud must be pried up before they will release.
If you're talking about the duct between the air box and the throttle body, there are two screws that hold it to the radiator shroud (as it goes over the top of the radiator). After removing these screws, I've found that it's easier to remove the duct from the throttle body first, then the air box.
OK, yes, it is released from the fan shroud, unplugged the hose going into the air filter box..all is apart except this little pluggie that goes int the intake duct.. trying to figure which part of it unplugs..as there is asection about 1" down..or if it just pops off where the wires are plugged in.. Then it will be free to come into the house!
Thanks all, Yes I am heeding all this advise....even taking into account the old wives tale"No pull"...and am disregarding that and have been pulling..... :D :D
