All Electrical Geniuses please HELP
I am having issues with my 97 when I start it for the first time of the day it turns over but then shuts right off, it will do this repeatedly. I usually lock my car unlock it and try again it will do this a couple more times and then it'll start. I have also been experiencing light dimming, battery voltage moves around anywhere from 10 to 14.7 etc. I don't know what is going on but I have a small coolant leak that runs a little bit from the coolant reservoir and I believe it may be dripping into one of my grounds. I have gotten a lot SERVICE VEHICLE SOON lights over the past year, which should mean electrical. But I don't get any convincing codes. I have also had the SERVICE TRACTION SOON, REMOVE KEY 10 SECONDS, ETC. a few times. Can you guys help me make sense of this?

Had a similar experience. Check, clean, re-tighten your battery terminals. (I found mine loose.) If that doesn't help, try another key you know works. (The imbedded chip may be damaged triggering the anti-theft feature.) Good luck.

my 97 will shut right back off if I turn the key to the start position
and just let go - it does not spring back to "on" all the way - I have
just gotten in the habit of helping it back counterclockwise slightly
and it works every time. No doubt need to replace the ignition switch
one of these days. It had 28k miles when I bought it - 41k now.
I have not had the other problems you mentioned.
