Default My 2000 FRC build .. a lot of pics

My project car - maybe someone might find it interesting
I thought I had a long winter ahead of me but now it's soon February and my car is still not ready. The snow should be gone in april so I still got some time.

This is how it looks now, note the the modified Z06 fender extension at the rear wheel. I'm using ACI sideskirts with their integrated rear brake cooling - working, not styling It's a cooling duct all the way to the rotor ending with a LG Motorsports Spindle Duct.

Here is all the fun parts in the rear end, Ohlins Coil Overs, PFADT Competition swaybar with mounts and a 'good to have' tow hook. You can also see a little of the PFADT diff/tranny mount. The fuel unit in the right tank is removed in this picture waiting to get a extra fuel pump installed that will kick in at around 4800rpm.

Close-up at right rear showing BAER Bump Steer adjustment, Ohlins Coil Overs and the PFADT swaybar end link.

Close-up at the control arm mounts. No flexing bushings anywhere, heim-joints everywhere

Close-up at the PFADT diff/tranny mount. You can also see the stainless hoses to the diff cooler and tranny cooler.

Front, using same components as in the rear, Ohlins Coil Overs, PFADT sway bar, Baer bump steer adjustment. I'm using PFADT fixed camber setup to avoid moving wheel alignment that is a BIG problem with the stock setup. DRM brake cooling ducts with LG Spindle Ducts and Control arms with heim joints.

Front close-up, the splitter/spoiler is not mounted so you get a clear view of the cooling system. The air intake area is doubled compared to stock and I have built a sealed aluminum box around the radiator forcing all air to go through the coolers or to the air filter. With the splitter/spoiler mounted its sealed in the bottom as well.
This car have no A/C. The cooler you can see is the big DRM aluminum radiator with built in oil cooler, the smaller black cooler to the right is the power steering cooler, the bigger one is a secondary engine oil cooler.

A little better view of the front still without the splitter/spoiler. Tow hook here to (I'm a roadracer so you never know when it's needed .....)
About 2/3 of the area behind the black nets feeds the sealed aluminum box with air in addition the the big front inlet.

ARE 3-stage oil pan, LG Pro headers etc

Front suspension close up, showing the cooling, the 14" slotted rotors and AP Racing 6-piston calipers(I'm using Cobalt XR2 pads)

Upper control arm setup - fully adjustable to get maximum camber and caster.

Some engine candy 427' C5R engine, DRM built with ported LS7 heads and ported LS7 intake, close to 700hp on the engine dyno We will see how much I get on the dyno - the goal is 600rwhp. Please note that this is a natural aspirated engine.
You can also see the top of the sealed aluminum box I mentioned earlier.. The air intake is a modified Callaway Honker to a C6 Z06 including a C6 Z06 MAF.
The electrical water pump and belt tensioner is not installed yet.

Special built fuel system with two fuel pumps, one in each tank feeding in the front of the fuel rails and the fuel pressure regulator on the return. The good thing with this fuel system is that its quiet.

The ARE drysump tank. A few hoses left to install. The battery is in the rear.

The rear battery install. I'm using a modified Lingenfelter kit. The red box to the left is a Boost-a-pump feeding the left fuel pump with 16V. The right fuel pump is feed with stock battery voltage level when it kicks in. Both fuel pumps is Lingenfelter high performance pumps designed to run constantly at 16V. Each pump have its own Racetronix wire harness.

The exhaust system installed. It have been used a couple of years but it fits very well and I like the sound level and sound so I keep it.

The last piece to get the front ready. A couple of days work left.

The front is ready. I'm not sure if I like to have the splitter black. I may paint it red .....

I tried to take a picture of the car on wheels but it did not turn out so well through the shop window ..

That is all for now. In a week or two its time for the first fire up. I will post a video

Wow thats an awesome looking car... with a very impressive list of mods and upgrades...you'd better go buy a few more sets of rear tires,
you're going to need them lol

I am truely impressed. If I was to make my car a all out track car, that would be my exact mods.

That Pfadt stuff is almost to good looking to hide.

Kudos on the motor. I know C5R stuff is $$$$$. that power NA will be awesome.

by the way, where did the splitter come from?

I like it, good write up and great detailed pictures. How about the interior?

What trans are you using? Stock? I didn't see anything on it.

Have you considered either a Halltech front plate intake of the lisence plate screen mod. I have the halltech on my vette, good look and allows great airflow for my inter cooler, or your radiator in your case.

Any more info on your hemi joints?

Nice car! Everything looks top notch, but I'm surprised you'll be using an electric water pump. I've always read that those don't flow nearly as much as a mechanical pump and are more prone to failure. It seems to me a mechanical pump like the Evans would be much more appropriate than an electric pump for a road course car.

I recall Randy from DRM mentioning that he had a customer in Sweden doing a sick build...but damn. Thanks for sharing all the pics.

Will you be running a particular series over there? Are there many Corvettes being road raced in Europe?
