My car had MSD wires and they sucked. One developed a pin hole causing a mis fire. Also the autolight super platinum plugs were rubbish too. I bought the gm performance wires and ac delco iridiums, car runs smooth and idles smooth, fixed both problems i had.

If it's running,,no reason to worry right now. IMO they will last like the old fashioned plugs unless you REALLY banged them up!!
I used a gapping tool that hooks the ground and opens or closes it. Didn't get near the electrode or contact area. I just went by what the manual says for gap. I can probably close them back up to .040 if it would be better.
Thanks again for any help.

IMO you should be good to go then. I used the same type to get mine to .040 exactly. The nervous Nellies out there say DON"T touch them at all,,but as long as you stay away from the important parts I can't see the harm!! I really don't see the necessity to pull them, since that is what your year specified,,but I would check the parts shop book for the recommended gap on the iridium plugs for your year. The parts book for my 2000 stated .040,,no variation for the Delco Iridium. It may be different for yours. This was at one of the old fashioned parts houses/machine shop that's been around for over 40 years that I know of. Wouldn't hurt to check but I don't think it is a "gotta do it right now" kind of thing!!!

The owners manual on my '98 says .060 gap but, that was for the old OEM plugs. The new Iridiums are pregapped at .040 and shouldn't be changed.
