Its not just your car, common issue not really a problem. You may need to re-align your shifter. Easy job. Do a search in the stickey thread it has pic's and step by step. For now when you shift into reverse hold the shifter in gear w/your right hand so it can't pop out.

I have the same issue but I was the cause of mine. When I was doing a hard shift into what I thought was 5th I hit the reverse gears a bit. Now if I hold the stick in reverse it doesnt come out but if i let the stick go it comes out right away. I could get the reverse gear changed (about $1500) out but I think I am just going to buy a new trans eventually. I had the fluid changed and the shifter aligned and it was no better.
As mentioned already, always do the shifter alignment first. Its fast and easy to do and usually solves most issues. Past that, fluid change may help and finally if its still having issues, tear-down time or contact a forum vendor such as RPM Transmissions.
I've changed my shifter, sure it could move left and right (adjustement) before tight it ... that what you call shifter ajustement ?
If you chg'ed your shifter then the alignment is easy. There is a locking key in the front of the shifter. W/the trans in neutral and the torx screws loose push the key down to lock the shifter in place. Then tighten down the torx screws from front to rear & side to side. When all screws are tight pull up on the key. Your shifter is now aligned.
Well after running out and buying Torx 40 driver and doing the realignment its no longer popping out of reverse, but now its grinding then settling in gear.
Do the alignment again just to be safe. Maybe things settled a bit and it needs another adjustment. Probably time to change the fluid if not done already. How is the clutch?

I'll try again tomorrow, if it doesn't work out i'll take it by my mechanic and have him check it out after i get my other car out of the shop. I haven't had any problems with the clutch.
Mine does the same thing. I have an '02 Coupe that I converted from A4 to M6. During the conversion, I swapped in a Hurst shifter. I just hold it in reverse until I'm done backing. The shifter adjustment is a great recommendation - gotta do it this weekend!
CHANGE YOUR OLD ATF Fluid to AMSOIL Synthetic ATF fluid. You will be amazed at the improved shift feel and resolution of grinding issues! I also agree, recheck your alignment and make sure that the shifter is working correctly!!
