Ok so i need help with my remote alarm. I did the setup and everything like it says to, to get the remote to work and it works for like 2 minutes then after the two minutes it dont work anymore. does anyone know why its doing this crap?? i have a 1999 Z51 thanks
Are we talking about your fobs not working after two minutes or litterally the alarm? If its the fobs stop responding after they've been programmed, that's a common failre these days when the fobs hit 8-10 years old....they die. About all you can do is buy new ones. I suggest Gene Culley here at gmpartshouse.com as he's got the best prices around for them. Now if you are talking about the alarm function itself, you'll need to clarify what you are attempting to get it to do.
im not sure if its the FOBs or what. like ill go to do the program add then i test it out and the alarms works then i go to do it again a little be later and it dont work. so i reset it again and they work then they dont.. so im having to use the damn key to get into my car feel kinda lame doing this lol.
Yep, as I suspected, the fobs have died. All you can do is to buy new ones. As I suggested, Gene Culley has the best price around for them. www.gmpartshouse.com. Gene will take care of you. FYI, I contacted GM about this problem and got a no information response from them. All they told me was to contact the dealer. The dealer knows nothing about them. I was unable to find out who the manufacturer is or even obtain a schematic. I did find out they are assembled in Mexico....that's it. I suggest that you don't buy any off ebay. Most of those are probably bad.
thanks so how hard is it to replace it?? and also i just got my tires changed and the back left tire sensor isnt working it needs to be reset i guess how do i do that??
In the DIC when you went to do the fob programming, touching the reset button one more time would have put you into the tire pressure sensor training mode. You'll need a strong magnet. It to is easy to do. If it still doesn't work for that wheel, you'll have to buy a new tire pressure sensor for it and have the tire removed, sensor installed, reinstall the tire and rebalance of course. Make sure you buy the correct sensors or fobs for the year of your car. Gene will help you out there. Sure hope that whomever changed that tire for you didn't trash the sensor.
I had two fobs fail and neither had that problem. It was the first thing I looked for! Wish it did have that issue as it would have been by far easier than buying new ones. Hopefully in the case of the OP, that's what's wrong with his.
