While popular, especially for running them upfront as skinnies in drag applications, I'll have to throw my $.02 in and say I think it's incredibly dumb.
GTO wheels are not on 5x4.75 centers. They are on 5x120mm centers. This makes the lugnuts not properly seat in the cup. Do you want to drive when your lugnuts aren't seated properly.

The lugnuts seat properly...all you have to do is grind the center hub about 1/8" around on the rim. I would not run the temp spares though like many do!!

Lets see... 5X120mm that translates to 5X4.73"....

You're right, that's not nearly close enough....

Yep, dumb enough to be able to fit, but not line up perfectly. Ever look at your lugnuts? The are angled to seat into the countersink in the wheel. Guess what happens when you force them down. That's right, adding undue bending stress to your studs.
I expressed facts that it's not a good idea. You do what you want.
I had to grind mine done to get it to fit. The way I see it if it get so me out of a jam so be it. I never put it in the car yet though... Maybe if I decide to go on an interstate trip some day.
Ive ran my M&H fronts on the GTO wheels with the following 3 rear sizes all trouble free in both street driving and track runs: 28 x 11.5 x 16 (ET STREETS 27.8)), 335/30/18 (NITTO DRAG RADIALS 26.06) AND 305/35/18 (ET STREET RADIALS 26.4)
Ive been 165 MPH on the highway on these, Racing a GT 500.
They felt ok @ that speed but on the track between 130 - 140 they feel great.

Jason,
I'm trying to find front skinnies for drag strip only (so far with no luck).
Are these stock GTO wheels or GTO SPARE wheels? Where did you get them? How much did they cost?
Where did you get those spacers? I've heard that with spacers, you don't have to trim the inside of the wheel. Is that correct?
How much 60' and ET decrease is realistic to expect?
If you're only using the skinnies up front, what's the reason to try and match tire height front/rear? I don't plan on putting the skinnies on one of the rears - I've read that could damage the differential internals. And hopefully, on the front, I'll pick them up off the ground when I launch anyway.
BTW, I'm running M/T ET Street Radial II 305/35-18's on the rear.
