Default Help re-programming key fob

Can anyone give me the instructions to re-program a key fob for a 1999 frc? The local battery shop changed the battery for me and the program was lost on one of the units. She gave me instructions which I followed but now both key fobs don't work. Help...

To match transmitters to your vehicle, do the following:

1. Turn the ignition key to ON.
2. Clear any warning messages on the Driver Information Center (DIC) by pressing the RESET button.
3. Press the OPTIONS button on the DIC several times until the blank page is displayed, then press and hold the RESET button for two seconds.
4. When the message FOB TRAINING is displayed, press the RESET button once. The message HOLD LK + UNLK 1ST FOB will be displayed in the DIC .
5. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the first transmitter simultaneously for five seconds.
6. When a transmitter is learned (matched), the DIC will display FOB LEARNED and then prompt you to learn the second transmitter.
7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 for the third transmitter.
8. Remove the key from the ignition.

Does this apply to brand new key fobs too? I always read how some on ebay come with free programming and others have to be?

This works for the GM key fobs that are correct for the year car. Aftermarket, I don't know.

All new or used would have to be reprogramed to your car. Free pragraming, means you get free instructions to program them. HTH

Anyone know why the Fob programing sequence does not progress to "HOLD LK + UNLK 1ST FOB"? I get all the way to "FOB TRAINING", push RESET once and hear the beep but nothing changes. "FOB TRAINING" remains on the DIC. I tried holding the fob buttons anyway for 15sec or so but no change.

FWIW - These are the original Fobs to the car - one used on a regular basis but I recently let the car sit and the (car) battery died. Car battery recharged and car is fine. Thought maybe fob battery so swapped both with new but still nothing. Car starts and runs fine with both keys - just remote lock etc not functioning. Tried holding buttons while near car to "resync" but still nothing.

Thoughts?

Thank you 8Vette7 - that was just the pointer I needed! You were correct - B0 - RFA had NO COMM. I recorded the remaining codes, reset them and pulled the neg battery cable. I noted some slight sulphur(?) buildup so cleaned that up. When I put the terminal back on the key-in-ignition chime started going off which I now noted was NOT sounding prior to the terminal removal. So definitely something reset or cleaning up the terminal made better contact. I jumped in and checked codes - no more NO COMM and the Fob programming worked as documented!

So thank-you. I know I jumped ahead but as soon as I read the potential "ground" issues - I've had my fair share with the car and knew immediately what it "wasn't" and the most likely culprit. Bingo! So thanks again for the quick and accurate diagnosis to get me underway!

G.
