Default Programming my vette

Hello everybody,

I have a 01' vette, that is completely stock with the exception of c6 rims. I have enjoyed the performance I have gotten out of my car for two years now, however I need more performance. I know bolt on mods only give minimal performance especially with the LS1 engine. Can someone tell me (what kind of performance) I can expect and what kind of( Price tag) I'm looking at. I have a garage locally that only works on vettes and that where I'm thinking of going. I just want to have an idea of what I 'm getting into.

Also,

I am concerned about any negative side effect programming could have on my vette

Thanks,

Mike

It nwill depend on what type of power you want, there are so many simple mods to start with that will give noticable power increases and not break the bank.

You could start with: Since you already have the LS6 intake your doing good

VARARAM Cold Air Intake - Can buy used in For Sale section ($200+ shipped)

Cat-Back Exhaust (Your Choice Used $500-$800) I'd do the C5 Z06 TI's ($350+ Used)

NGK TR-55 Plugs ($20)

MSD RED Plug Wires ($60)

Diablo Sport Hand Held Tuner - ($250+ Used) this is to take advantage of the bolt ons!

Now from this point I would do:

Headers, Hi-Flow Cats, X-Pipe ($800+ Used) ($1400+ New)

Could do as well: Ported Throttle Body (Yours done $125+) and a Underdrive Pulley set ($? not sure price, depending on you skills you can do the install or a mechanic)

DYNO TUNE - at this point this is the most important part the "DYNO TUNE" ($500+ Sell Handheld Tuner it'll be less)

At this point you would be flyin' with some very decent RWHP and RWTQ at least around 360 RWHP

There are no negative effects from having the PCM reprogrammed, your stock tune is held in the Handheld Tuner and the Dyno Tuner will have it stored in his computer system.

Plus you will never have to worry because you can have your PCM reflashed back to stock with HP Tuners

I know there is more but that's pretty good for now!

If you have an Auto then you can also do a Stall Converter and perhaps a set of 3.42 gears for the rear from a MN6 ($500+ Used) I don't know what your Vette is.

Thanks,Matt

I would say it all depends on what kind of performance you are looking for. If you just want to spend a few buck and would like a little more oomph then I would go with a CAI, cat back exhaust, and then top it off with the Predator. You can hear the exhaust when you get on it so it sounds great!! I have the Vararam ($300), corsa indy ($950) and Predator ($250 used to $350 new) with my auto and love it. Good results for not too much $$$. I did all of the labor so I save a few bucks too (and its fun). Since I have the Auto tranny the Predator really woke up my car but for the M6 you may want a tuner to maximize the bolt on's. Just wait until you installed all of the performance parts you think you need before you get a tune so you can make the most of it and you don't have to get a 2nd (or 3rd tune) So $1600 to 1800 if you do the work yourself.
