You have the windshield, and need it installed. Why do you feel like your being "hosed"? What did I miss?

Not trying to be a smart a$$, but is there only one shop in Abilene capable of installing a windshield in a C5? Shop around and get some estimates. Who does your local Chevy dealer use? What would the dealer charge you?

It took the guy just over an hour to do mine, so I would say $350 labor is rediculous especially considering it is quite simple.

Mine is a coupe and they replaced the seals from A-piller to A-piller. I think it is just one long seal on the coupe.

I'm in FL so it was all free for me. No deductable on windshields here.

I did this last year on my Z. The glass shop installed a new windshield without changing the weather strip. For a year I kept going back because the windshield leaked. I finally talked to State Farm about it and their adjuster authorized a complete replacement of the new windshield and weather strip. Turns out the windshield was warped in some areas and the glass shop tried to stop the leaks by filling everything with sealer which ruined the weather strip. The replacement was done at the dealer's body shop by the glass guy they hire to do their work. So far everything looks great and the new windshield (ordered from GM) is not warped like the other one was. Total cost to State Farm was about $2100.

Update:
If you choose to replace the weatherstrip one thing you need to make sure you do is keep the blow out clips from your old weatherstrip. When the job was completed on my car I told the guy the blow out clips were missing. As it turns out the clips are still shown in the GM Parts book but they have been discontinued. They have to be ordered from a separate GM owned discontinued parts company.

Bill

You'll find that most shops want to replace the seals, its the right way to do it. The OE seals are expensive to buy retail.
