I just took the halo foam off the driver's seat because the seat had sliced through the foam and was started to wear the leather on the outside bolster. The new halo foam has some reinforced backing, but doesn't look nearly strong enough. Should I put some Gorilla tape on the inside of the halo foam to stop/slow potential wearing through again
Take a bit of sandpaper or a file and round off the edge. I found the same thing when I replaced my seat skins. The edge was like a knife.....I used several layers of duct tape as well after rounding off.
Definitely put something there or it will wear through again. I put some old bath towels doubled up on the corners and taped them in place. Should last a lot longer. I've also seen some people put a clear rubber hose over the corner and tape into place.
I put vinl tubing over all the exposed frame edges and taped it down with Gorilla/Duct tape. Cut a slit in the tubing and slide ot over the offending edges.... I also layed carpetting over the wires in the seat bottom...
I sanded the edge of the halo to take off the sharp edge. Then I hotglued some felt over it for added protection. The most important thing i do now is to try not to put my weight on that part of the seat when getting in or out of the car.
Used a file to smooth that rough edge off that cut the foam. I used heavy duct tape and created quite a nice patch (daily use now for several months, no problems). I fixed the rip in the fabric with an iron on patch from the fabric store. Ironed on from the inside. BE VERY CAREFUL with the heat and check often what it looks like on the other side (the side that matters when its all buckled back up). Then I patched the tearproof fabric on the inside the same way.
Not a perfect fit but MUCH better than the problem getting worse. More comfortable. A local shop could replace just that section of the seat cover thats torn if you wanted to do that. Upholstery shops are great for that sort of custom work... MUCH cheaper than factory or aftermarket replacement of the whole thing.
