Default Head unit

Maybe someone can help me. I went to custom audio install store was looking to get a new head unit installed. Looking at the kenwood line with the navigation dvd cd you know the works. Well my question is they asked me if i had bose speakers which i said i did and they were saying they would have remove them as they are not compatable with these head units and will have to install other speakers. True or is he jacking up the price on me?
I have a 2002 coupe.

I heard that too; but then found these units:

* SVEN2 level converter
* SVHGM4 harness

and they connected up my 2002 factory Bose speaker system to my new radio without problem.

Do yourself a favor and replace those Blose speakers with some quality speakers.

Thats BS,you need an adapter to keep the Bose speakers.You are probably going to ditch the Bose for some quality speakers and a good amp down the road. I kept the Bose with my Alpine Hu then upgraded to an Alpine amp and Alpine component speakers. There are a few adapters that you can use so you can keep the Bose if you want. Look in the forum section under audio for lots of info.

I went the Bose adapter route but was not satisfied with it as i'm used to the quality beefy bass sound---I eventually went with a Sony Xplod head unit--removed the front bose speakers-custom fabbed new speaker plates to mount the fronts on and replaced the rears with new speakers as well----In the trunk area i bought a custom enclosure that fits in the well and installed (1) 12" sub--2 Sony Xplod amps--1 to run the 4 speakers and 1 for the sub only--it really rocks and pounds !!!
You could run everything off (1) 4 channel amp as well--
PS------I sold all the old Bose stuff on E-B*** and it sold easily for around $350

The Bose door units are mediocre at best. You will find that if you are looking for a truly good sound they will end up being repaced. I had a setup in mine where I had some good quality aftermarket speakers in the factory locations behind the seats and and the Bose in the doors. I just adjusted the fade to take some of the power/sound away from the bose fronts, because they just couldn't compete with the good quality aftermaret ones I had in the rear. I am also running a 10" JL sub too along with that, and a Pioneer head unit.
