I have yet to hear of an oil pump failure on these engines. I'm wondering if you broke something in the engine other than a pump. Rod Bearing let go or something worse. About all you can do is tear it down.

there are a few threads here about pumps going out.
the low pressure message came on and before that the car was running fine. the pressure just dropped to 25 then all of a sudden down to zero. while this was happening the car was running fine an still ran fine for a 2 miles. my dumbass should have shut it down but i drove another mile or so. now it starts up, showing zero oil pressure but the engine sounds as dry as sand. i bump started this morning just to make sure the pressure was zero.
Changing the oil pump is not that easy you have to remove steering rack and front accesories plus you're going to need a puller to get the pulley of. One quick check you can do is take oil filter off and cut it open, remember to use tin-snips, and look for shavings if you find them then prabobly you need a total rebuilt
