Ok.. It's not the shifter but the shifter doesn't seal engine and road noises.. Anyone come up with an easy fix?? I love the shifter but
don't love the extra noises...

What I did was buy a rubber plug from Ace hardware. If I remember correctly it's the second biggest size they sell. It looks like a stopper. Tapered. Then I drilled a hole through it with a spade bit the same size as the shifter shaft. I think it was 1/2 inch. I put the plug on the shifter shaft big end down, then used a tie wrap to tighten the gasket up to the plug. The cost was under $3. No more noise.
If needed and if someone can tell me how to post pix I could post one.

I used a 1-1/2" version of this Fernco plumbing plug I got at Home Depot. I cut a hole in the center of it just large enough to fit over the Hurst shaft and pushed it in place. I enlarged the hole size for my MGW shifter. Works great.

I wrapped alot of teflon tape on the shifter threads then twisted the oem shift **** back on. Worked like a charm!
