Default Transmission conversion

Hello everyone. I'm new around here and was wandering if anyone had some information on an auto-manual conversion for the c5. I love my car, but really desire a 6speed. If anyone knows of any recent threads or something on this I would be most appreciative.

Thanks,
Brandon

I would try a search for this conversion......RPM Transmissions are very well known for this swap as well as building great transmissions.....lots of threads out there on this subject so take your time and read through them all. Hope this helps!

Welcome to the forum.

Best/cheapest way would be to find someone in your area (which is not entered) that wants to go auto. Put both cars on lifts side by side and go at it.

Actually the best way is to buy a manual Vette

Its a big job, do you want to do the work or pay someone to do it? If you are going to pay someone to do it then it may be cheaper to sell and buy what you want. If you have a LOT of mods that make taking them off and back on a new Vette would be a huge project, then it may make sense to do a swap. If your stock, then its harder to justify.

The only real area that you could do a hatchet job is on the wiring. You have to add some wires. Otherwise, when you get the parts its pretty much plug and play. But its kind of a lot of plug'ing. And some re-programing of the computer, its also pretty straigh forward but not a lot of people know what to do.

Thanks for the response guys it shall be really helpful. I'm currently residing in Honolulu for the time being. Should be making my way back to the east coast in a year or so. This car was an opportunity that I couldnt really pass up with the down side being that it was an auto. The plan is pretty much in a state of flux right now. Im either looking at either doing a rebuild of the current engine along with upgrades or just purchasing an engine/transmission combo. Still gotta do the research but thats the direction Im wanting to go.
