Default Tire Tech's, step in...

Guys...need input...

For traction, what would be better...

1.) Going from Toyo T1R 275's to 285's both have 280 treadwear rating. 285 is about .6in wider per tire.

2.) 275 series drag radial with 100 treadwear rating.

PS...what if any affect would drag radial have on overall handling/cornering. Mainly street drivin car...

Thanks,
al

You aren't gonna see much difference in both of the 280 treadwear tires you listed. I mean more rubber on the ground isn't gonna hurt anything and will benefit if nothing else.

I would not daily drive on drag radials. You will only wear them out very fast. Yes they will grip well, but are you racing the car? Or do you only want them for looks?

Have you considerd R888 or RA1?They will be stickier than the T1Rs but handle better on the street.

If you're changing for more rubber on the road, make it worthwhile. Go with at least a 295 or 305.

DR's grip well, but get real sporty in the rain or even wet pavement. If you're prepared for that, then fine.

I'm a huge fan of the twistys and I also have 581rwhp so going straight real fast is important to me. I started out with the supercars GY great on the turns but launching needed effort to control wheel spin. I then switched to 305 35 18 Nitto 555R11'S this is a great all around performer when hot they put the power down and real sticky in the turns. Now the down side I dont daily drive or ever drive in the rain but if you do, for one you will not get much milage it is a R compound and constant heat cycles will wear it down and forget rain thats not its design. Now I decided I'm going to the PS2's this tire is on all the worlds best cars including the ZR1 638hp, viper 600hp, GT2 550hp.
