it is the same problem that some C-5s have that is why they went to coated pistons in the 02 so they could down on the start up noise with closer fit in the cly bores. :chevy

There are a lot of goofy things posted on this forum, but if you think Clem is guilty of that, look at his profile. The man has some pretty damn good credentials. Might be worth taking this one seriously if you even think you have a problem.

What does this have to do with us?
What it has to do with us is that some LT1s and LS1s have the piston slap problem when cold. My '97 Trans Am had it and my '00 'Vette has a very mild case of it.

Clem, Jschindler........although I do not (thankfully) have this probelm........
I do have the Sword of Damacles hanging over my head on the "Excessive Consumption issue",.........not yet................but possible...

This issue, as well as the piston slap, is exactly what Clem has said.........you have a vehicle that costs a small fortune, and with this problem, you have a devalued vehicle.

Vette, or whatever vehicle......

Over time, the excessive SLAP, will crack the skirts, and terminal failure will be the results..........it is INEVITABLE.

So, you can say, "What's this got to do with ME", or you can be a part of the solution, and not part of the problem.

This issue........is PANDEMIC...............

It is not isolated, it is a KNOWN defect & a major one.
Thank you Clem for getting in the tenches...............kudo's to you :)

I think some of us said "what's this got to do with me" because we were not sure what this was...thank you for pointing that out...I certainly did not mean to give a smartazz response, only trying to find out more what this was...that IZ what a Forum iz all about isn't it???
