Default Casting irregularity in LS6 intake manifold?

I purchased a used LS6 intake manifold yesterday, and I noticed ridges on the inward surface the cathedral ports near the edge. They look like casting irregularities, and are present in 2 of the ports. I assume that this is normal? Would their be any issue with to carefully grinding off the ridges? Anyone else noticed this?

Apparently, I am the first to notice this (or the first to be bothered, even slightly, by it)...

YEP,,,That is exactly what I was thinking.

No it will not hurt anything if you do a littke port clean up. In fact, while its off, you can gain a few HP if you port match and clean all the ports. I plan on doing that to my C6 LS2 stock intake soon!

I ported my own FAST 90 and LS2 TB last spring. It made a really good improvement in performance.

Thanks for the comments guys...

I am interested in port matching but am unsure how to do it. With standard gaskets, you use the gasket to scribe a an outline of the opening, but obviously this cannot be done with the press in place gaskets...Any suggestions as to how to go about porting the LS6. Seems like it would be more difficult than the LS2, as it does not come apart like the LS2 unit...

LS2 intakes don't come apart. The FAST Intake come apart. Purchase some template paper (its actually heavy cardboard) and lay it on the head. You will have to secure it in place so that it does NOT move throughout the procedure.
Use a small brass hammer and LIGHTLY tap around the bolt holes and intake openings. That will score a line where you need to cut. I use a scalpel blade to make a nice smooth precision cut. Make sure that you mark the orientation of the lay out paper so that you place it on the manifold in the correct direction.
