Default Where is my PCV Valve located?

This may come across as a stupid question, but where is the PCV Valve located on a 1998 C5? All of the diagrams and information that I can find indicates that it should be located about 3 inches from the intake manifold nipple, on the passenger side of the engine, immediately behind the throttle body. I think that it should be located between the brownish plastic tube that is covered in black hose running parallel to the passenger side fuel rail, and the nipple on the intake manifold. It isn't there. All I have is a piece of hose that may or may not be stock.

Is it possible that someone took out the PCV all together?

Help...!

I've had a '99 and the PCV was located up front near the intake port. That connection tube...look for a heavy wire connecting to the block. Looks like a huge ground wire. Its not actually that rather a method to transfer heat to the PCV valve itself which should be enclosed in a rubber tube of its own.

If your baby is an 03 or 04, it might not have one. I know my 04 came from the factory WITHOUT one. I have 03's (late) that have either been modded or exactly the same setup.

You are probably just exactly in the right place. My 04 also sucked oil like a booze hound at a casino so I had to do the oil cap breather and a catch can (ducks to avoid flying stuff in post). There is quite a debate about whether any of that makes a difference. I can tell you on my car it does. My 00 is stock, has a valve and I see much LESS oil consumption. So much for upgrades!

Based on your description, sounds like it is missing.

The guy behind the parts counter at the auto parts store locally tried to convince me that his 97 vette had the pcv in a different location. I thought he was nuts. Maybe not???

Well, it turns out that your guy behind the parts counter was right. After hours of staring blankly into the engine compartment I started taking the injector rails off and I found the PCV burried in the black "padded" hose about 3/4 of the way towards the back of the engine under the fuel rail.

Thanks to everyone for all of the input!!
