Do I really need to change my oil every 3 months even if I have only placed 300 miles on it from last oil change? Used car oil decal is calling for it...
I would not change the oil due to a time limit. Change your oil by the time the engine has been running and since most cars do not have an hour meter you can guess by the miles. If you only have 300 miles on the oil, keep it. My .02's :yesnod:
A 3 month interval is too short. Dealers just trying to get more of your money I believe. See this article from Vette mag which recommends a 12 month interval (if you don't meet the mileage interval 1st). Oil change info is towards the end of the page. http://www.idavette.net/hib/C5diy/c5diy1.htm
The Idavette site is great. With today's synthetics you do not need to change oil nearly as often as in the old days. Many seem to think they need to do at 3K intervals, but they are just throwing money down the drain. If once a year or 12K sound too long to you, change it at 6K. I always change at 6K and my engines run well and look like new inside! :yesnod: :smash: :D
