Default A/C Accumulator Question

I ordered a new accumulator from RockAuto and when it showed up one of the caps had fallen off and the plastic bag it ships inside was open (therefore exposing the accumulator to air). I have no idea how long it was open but my bet is a pretty long time. Should I send it back as the dessicant inside could have been saturated with water from the air? Thanks.

Just draw a good long vacuum on it, and you'll be fine

Everything I've read is that if the accumulator was exposed to air for more than 4 hours you need to replace it. Is this just overkill or only when there's oil in the accumulator? Thanks again. Just want to make sure I don't go through all of this and end up with something not working right.

Nothing but time lost if you send it back.

Send it back. Sure a good vacuum will take out almost all the moisture but the bag is there to retain the rest. If its exposed to air, who knows what condition its in.
