Default Sensor Question

What is the sensor circled in red, and what does it do? It's barley hanging on by a thread.

I'm just trying to figure out if this is related to my oil psi reading max pressure.

It is the oil level sensor. I broke mine during the engine repl and had to get a new one, then burnt the wire during 1st break in and had to splice.

This condition is a result of the oil pressure sensor failing...a very common problem with the LS1/LS6. Unfortunately, the sensor is located on the top of the engine block immediately behind the intake manifold which requires removal. Many, many threads on this subject and a few solutions to ease the recurring repair many of us have experienced.

Here is a link that demonstrates with pics the removal procedure:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...tml?forum_id=1. Best of luck...

You can gain access without removing the intake manifold - link below -

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...elocate-4.html

If you do this you MUST reseal the hole in the cowl to prevent fumes entering the cabin.

Removing the intake is not all that difficult but some would rather not.
