Does the speedometer and tachometer need to be recalibrated with a gear change from 3.15 to 4.10? Or is speed measured not needing the change to the PCM?

Nothing needs to be changed.

The gear ratio being used will need to be changed in your PCM, for your speedometer. The tachometer will be off especially going from 1st to 2nd gear under WOT.
WRONG WRONG WRONG. The VSS is mounted on the output side of the diff. You don't need to change anything in the tune
The tach has nothing to do with the gearing in the rear end
Automatic cars need the "shift by mph" values changed in the PCM tune to reflect the gearing change, not because the speedometer is inaccurate, but because putting in steeper gears makes the engine RPMs higher at any given speed.
If this change is not done, the engine can hit the rev limiter before achieving the mph the trans. is commanded to shift at.
M6 cars need no tune changes for a gear ratio change. As already stated, the speedometer isn't affected by the gear change.
FWIW – I just noticed what appears to be a typo in the 2000 Service manual when it describes the VSS:
A toothed wheel mounted on the output shaft of the manual transmission generates an AC voltage pulse as it moves past the vehicle speed sensor (VSS). The VSS contains a permanent magnet surrounded by a coil of wire, which produces a magnetic field. The toothed wheel interrupts the magnetic field that generates an AC voltage pulse. As the vehicle speed increases the AC voltage pulse rate increases.
But in the replacement procedure it shows it on the Differential :o
Sorry about that. I had Fbody's on my mind, not Corvette's.
it happens. We here on CF-C5 only have to concentrate on one series of Corvette. You as a business - need to broaden the field; having to keep many other cars in the thinking loop as well.
