I installed the shifter in my 2000 coupe..major improvement. One of the best mods to date..(my 4.10's were the best).
I noticed the original housing, on the 2000, bolts to the torque tube with rubber mounts...any of you, guys change the entire assembly? Will it work with the 2000? Is it worth changing out? The 09 housing doesn't have the rubber mounts.
I installed a 3/4" shortened C6Z06 shifter and base(box) on my '01 last week. Probably the best mod i ve done to mine, other than the 7.0L swap! I enjoy driving this car like NEVER before! It seems to "fall" into the next gear. And it isn t sloppy feeling cause the base of the '09 C6Z06, that bolts to the torque tube, uses solid mounts instead of rubber! The rubber was deteriorating on my '01 base. AWESOME UPGRADE!!!
I just installed my new C6Z06 shifter too. What did you guys do for the shifter boot? I know it has to be modified but I'm wondering what is the best option to go with. Thanks

I re-used the one i was using with my B&M Ripper. Stock one that came with the car. What is the reason u need to change it?

The stock boot inner diameter is too small to fit over the C6Z06 shifter **** base where the screw goes in to cover it up. I was wondering if I could unglue the stock boot and then maybe roll it back which should open up the diameter. I'm not sure if that's the best option though and figured I should ask around before doing it.

Oh, Ok. Mine, a '09 C6 Z06, Has been modified. Cut 3/4" shorter and threaded for the C5 handle(****). I guess an Unmodified C6Z shifter needs modification. Mine went in with Zero issues during install. Looks factory, just that the handle sits on top of the leather boot cause its so short.

Ah ha. Looks good. I like the look of the Z06 **** so I'm going to have to figure out the best way to modify the boot.
