OK there is so much friggin info to read thru to get some hopefully simple answers I just thought I would ask. this is for my 2003 Z06
Each time I get in the car I get the "pull key wait 10 seconds" and then the CLB display. I had the recall 04006 completed a year ago for the CLB. Here is what I have done.
Cleaned both keys with alcohol to make sure they are spotless so the pellets read proper resistance. I just installed a new powerful battery 1000cca's. unplugged fuse 25 from the footwell for over 10 minutes. Still get the pull key wait 10 seconds. What else can I do?
My car has 7000 original miles on her now but it does have a custom tune for the headers, exhaust. can the tune affect this? what else have I forgotten to do? Do I need to install a CLB?
Thanks for the help.
Try this to see if is your issue. Figure out the "exact" resistance value that you key chip is. Go to radioshask or an electronics store and purchase a "precision" resistor of the same value. Then remove the lower dash panel and find the two wire wiring harness that goes to the small metal can on the front of your ignition switch. Its the key chip reader. Unplug that reader and insert the leads of the resistor into the harness side of the connector. This will provide the BCM the exact resistance that it looking for when you insert your key into the ignition switch. If thats the issue, you can either find another key chip reader or just leave the resistor in the connector.
The Column Lock can also give you issues if your battery voltage is low. Make sure you have the correct battery and B+ module voltages. Take voltage readings at the power fuses to ground for the BCM, PCM with the key in the ON position. Make sure your reading full BATTERY voltage.
Hope that helps you.

Thanks for the help thus far gents. I will try to do some testing when I get back home tonight and post what I find. and see what I can start to eliminate. With such low miles and having always been stored indoors in a dry heated environment I suspect all my connections are good. I was leaning towards the fact that the tune and "software" upgrades that were loaded is causing this issue for me.
It's GM's clb that was installed or performed I assume when the recall was completed. I have not yet installed a CLB but was thinking I may do so as well to see what happens. Thanks in advance for the help.

I had this same issue not too long ago. It gets really annoying. I purchased the CLB and installed it in 5 minutes.
I had the recall done as well, and still got the pull key message. When the "Service Column Lock" appeared, I left the car "on" and swung the steering wheel left and right against the lock with a little force, then turned the car off and pulled the key for 10 secs. It would fix the column long enough for me to plug the lighter adapter into the lock and release it to install the CLB.
I like to refer to the GM recall as "procedure" and I refer to the CLB as a "fix"...if you know what I mean....
The factory recall "K" harness HAS TO GO!! Then you can fix it with the CLB!! Another tip,,look inside the fuse cover,,there are actually 3 fuses associated with the computer!!
Well the steering colum doesn't lock and even though I get the pull key wait ten seconds I can still drive the car no problems as it does not shut the fuel off nothing..... Battery is MINT, keys spotless. Just trying to get rid of the annoying message. Will do a little more work on it tomorrow and see what I can figure out. Had to install my HID's today and my rotors. Tommorrow back on the security issue. I believe it has something to do with upgraded software that was downloaded at the time of the tune myself.....
