Default ls6 engine swap

Has anyone replaced the standard engine with the ls6 from a z06 car ?
Im wondering if anyone has done this in a car with an auto trans and if so, how it worked out.

Your not going to gain alot. The main thing is the heads and the cam all which swap into a LS1

Let me clarify what im doing -
First - its looking like i must replace the engine that i have since its basically worn out.
Second - I can buy a z06 engine w/less than 10k miles on it for 3 grand (which i thought was sooo cheap i should just buy it to have) and for some strange reason happens to be cheaper than i can find the normal ls1 engine for.
So what matters to me most is how many of the bolt ons (such as the exhaust manifolds, belt driven assessories and engine sensors) are going to work, weather or not i can use the same computer, and also how its affects the auto trans operation. I dont want to end up with some weird combination between the torque curve of the engine and the gear ratios in the trans that make the car "feel" slow from stoplight to stoplight, or makes the car get bad fuel mileage.
A bit more info - The car is an 01 - the perspective engine is out of an 03 - the car has a 2.73 rear end that im not planning on changing.

But the gain is the 243 heads which bolt onto a Ls1 and a Ls6 cam which you can pick up for $100.00. If you have a 2000 or below LS1 motor you also need the ls6 intake. There are a few small differances in the block mostly for oil cooling.

Everything should transfer, and if you need a new motor that is an excellent deal.

You would probably need to retune though.

All your sensors and accessories will swap over. The PCM will need to be re-tuned

The auto tranny shouldn't be an issue as far as driving charecteristics go.

Not sure how bad the 2.73 will be....with the $ you save on the LS6 you could find a used rear end.

Do it !!
