Does anyone know what the stock wattage is for the T-84, is it more than the STOCK lamp, ...Shawn at LAPD said they are selling 90/130 bulbs, with no heat problem. I thought anything over 80/80 was too hot and needed rewiring..I just put the T-84 in but have not driven at night yet, I assume they are brighter, I know the pattern is supposed to be wider....Dogdoc
I replaced the stock euro bulbs with PIAA H4 Super White Platinum Series Twin Pack, 80/80 watt - #15680 - $79.95. These have a light output said to be equivalent to 100/100 watt, and I can tell you that they are right much better than the stock euro bulbs, plus they are safe for the stock wiring.
just to chime in with my .02 worth of electrical know-how...an 80w lamp will draw 6.7amps on a 12vdc system. a 130w lamp will draw 10.8a on the same system. the circuit is most likely protected by a 10a fuse, which means the rest of the circuit must be rated at this + 25% overrating protection. so, i would count on the circuit handling 12.5amps max before problems. probably more than anyone wanted to know, but, what the heck!!
