Default Methanol Injection

Anybody installed one on a C5? If so, what do you think? Can you run regular gas with this system?

You need to post this in another forum section. Go to General, then pick Drag Racing and ask your question. Every quick C5 has it. You can get all the details from ECS, East Coast Supercharging who sells a ton of them. They are a supporting vendor here.

The C5 can run on regular gas although it isn't recommended. The PCM will cut back on the timing to reduce knock and the gas mileage will drop along with the timing. Not sure that methanol injection will give you enough cooling effect or octane boost to run the engine on regular gas without cutting the timing.

You can run regular as long as you never stand on it..... Meth just lowers the intake charge temperature, reduces knock (equals timing retard) and allows you to run max timing to make more power.

I run methanol injection and will NEVER run regular gas! If you want to run regular, buy a Honda!

It probably can be done, but I don't know that it would be worth it. Meth (50/50) does raise your octane rating fairly high WHILE SPRAYING (some say 110+) so you can run more timing. The problem on an N/A car is how to activate it. FI cars activate at a certain boost level (4-5psi usually) but an NA car would have to activate it by the TPS, or vacuum. You would also have to play with the timing tables for when you're NOT at WOT (or wherever you actiavte it)
After the intial purchase cost, then purchasing the meth fairly often, I don't know that it would be worth it just to run a lower grade gas.
Now if you're running high compression, and want to add some saftey... That's a different ball game
