Default Removing Rear Window Tint

I did a search and the search function is acting crazy, so I didnt find my answer. Can someone tell me the correct way to remove the rear window tint on my Coupe? Its starting to turn purple, and I dont want any tint right now. Im afraid to pull it off cause of the D-Frost and Antenna. Thanks for any help and info!

you could use a heat gun on low to heat up a corner and then as you pull, keep the heat moving between the window and the tint as you pull. don't get it too hot. a hair dryer should work if you don't have a heat gun. "too hot" is a matter of feel but smoke would be your first indication

Tom Garland, a former member here, gave this advice on tint removal.

This method works GREAT but requires either direct sunlight (warm day) or a bunch of time with a hair drier.

Get a couple LARGE BLACK garbage bags and cut them apart so you have sheets of black plastic.

Place the Vette out in the sun. Let the glass and interior of the car get good and warm.

Thoroughly coat the inside of the windows (the tint) with WINDEX and immedately cover the window with the black plastic.

Wait 15-30 minutes. The black plastic will keep the Windex from evaporating. The windex will resoften the window tint adhesive.

Remove the plastic, and peel the tint right off. Typically, it comes off WITH the adhesive. You may have to repeat the "soaking" process once or twice to get the film thoroughly released but it will come right off.

Spray the window again, apply black plastic for 15 minutes, and then remove the plastic and wash the window.

Done.

WINEDX is ok, but it leaves little pieces behind... Go to the grocery store and get distilled water and ammonia. Mix it 50/50... Do what Patches said, it should peel off.

I removed my rear window tint this way. It came off in one big piece, as i was pulling if it would stick i would just spray alittle of the ammonia / water solution on the area between the window and tint, wait a few seconds and SLOWLY start pulling again.

If your worried about an ammonia smell like I was, don't. I read a bunch of post on other forums about using ammonia. As long as you don't directly spill the ammonia mixture in your carpet you'll be fine. It smelled for like 1 hr after words but i left the doors open to air out and it was fine.
