I have an '01 coupe and have ran into my first real issue. It wouldn’t start and ended up having to get a tow to my mechanic. (I’ve used him for over 16 years and totally trust him.)
He replaced it with Starter #1 and it worked great and the start up sounded normal. 2 days later and this starter wouldn’t start. After about a dozen attempts it fired so I took it back.
He replaced it at no charge with Starter #2. Every time I would start up the car it would whine. He told me to run it for a few days to see if it would stretch itself out. After a week the whine was still there so I took it back.
He replaced it at no charge with Starter #3. It still whines but not as bad as Starter #2. Again he wants me to run it for a week or so to see if it works itself out.
My question is, why did Starter #1 not whine? Is it normal to whine? Will this work itself out in time? If so, how long will it take? I miss the sound of my baby when I turn her on!
*Note: All the starters are new Chevy Corvette starters from the local Chevy dealer.
