Default Crank Sprocket Installation

I'm kind of worried about the availability of the installation tool needed to press on the crank sprocket. I'd hate to leave the 80,000 mi. sprocket on there when the rest of the timing set is new. Can the balancer installation tool be used somehow?

Yes. The Kent-Moore tool can also be bought off of fleabay for around $15 to use with the threaded rod that is used to press on the pulley later. Which tool do you have for pulley installation?

The crank and cam sprockets are not the problem, it's the weak links on the chain that break.

Yes it can be. The wear on the crank gear can not correctly release the chain as it wears (chain tries to wrap on the crank or driven sprocket). If you have the parts, put them in.

Used the old sprocket in front of the new sprocket and used the old balancer bolt to pull it on. Worked like a charm.
