I put on a vararam, stat, and had my car tuned. The guy did a great job on waking the car up. Ever since, my car has knocked when the engine has been stressed too much. Accelerating in an upper gear from a low speed, or leaving the line hard in first. Even when idling I have noticed more slight knock/engine noise. Today I was driving and while looking at the dash the check engine light came on for the first time. I pulled codes
P0172 and P0175, which told me the system was running rich. What should the next step be from here? Is this not related to the tuner? In addition these codes are both in history. It was raining while when the light came on too.
What Octane are you using? Running RICH will not cause knock, running LEAN does. The knock sensors should detect this and pull out some timing. Maybe one or both or your knock sensors are sick.
I erased the codes. The check engine light did go out. I do still get the knock. I run 93 octane without fail. If I am stopped and give it a lot of gas in 1st, it makes a momentary knocking or preignition noise. Same if I'm in 6th going 40 and give it some throttle. This did not happen before the tune.
