Im wanting to run my car at the track here and there. Its gonna be a weekend cruiser for the most part, but i dont want to have to worry about breaking my rear end. Besides DTE, are they the only company that will build up our rearends? What do some of you all use for rear ends. Ive seen that some people use the hardend left output shaft and the brace and call it a day. Whats your imputs? Jay

Talk to Charlie at RPM Motors, here in So. Cal. I should have my new 4.10 any day now and I will post my assessment.

^^It all depends on how much power you put down, driving style, tires you use, and how much you track the car.

I recommend giving Rodney a call at RPM and telling him your plans and asking what he recommends. They have a lot of experience and excellent reputation. Really can't go wrong with them.

Another option but probably more expensive would be upgrading to a C6 Z06 rear differential. Requires a bit of work to replace the cradle and springs but the larger internal gears are probably going to get you further than a beefed up C5 diff. There are a couple posts on here from guys who have done it and some have gone further and installed a C6 tranny as well. This is the path I plan to take with my 02 Z06.

^^My brother is planning to install a C6 Z06 differential on his C5. Quite a bit of work but if you have big power might be worth it in the long run. My brother is shooting for 650 rwhp, which should be pretty easy since he has a forged 416 and plans to add a SC.

Wondering why they are not under consideration as well?
