Default Overheating Problem-99 Vette

Two years ago the dealer replaced my water pump. Two weeks ago I notice coolant on my garage floor and checked the hoses. Seemed to be wet at the radiator inlet and holding tank. So I changed all of the hoses, ran fine for a couple days then overheated. So I figure maybe the thermostat needs replacing, even though it is only 2 years old. I bought one at the dealer, put it on, No Luck. Car overheated. So I go to the dealer (in my other Vette) with my original receipt and the parts guy tells me that the water pump is a lifetime guarantee because it has an asterick next to the part number on my receipt from two years ago. On the receipt it doesn't say that anywhere. So I ask can I have the part and just bring in the old one when I get it off. No you have to bring the car in and we will change the water pump out.

Here's my question: Before I take it in , is there anything else I should or can do at home to see if the water pump works and I have a different problem, maybe with the fans or radiator?

Any advise is appreciated.

Yes, you need to clean the radiator and make sure there is no debris restricting air flow. Best to pull the upper radiator support. There are two 10 mm screws on each side that hold it down, it comes off very easy. If its real dirty, its best to pull the fans so you can get behind it and push any dirt back out the front. These cars are like giant vacuum cleaners and pick up all kinds of stuff including grass and dirt.

Agreed. Also check the pressure tank as the nipple for its hose will crack and start leaking coolant. All you can do with it is replace it should that be the case and they are only about $50.
