Help my car will not start sometimes. Two weeks ago I put a new red top battery in my 2001 when it would not start. It car started every day for two weeks I went to get in sat and nothing. I got out my jump box and it started right up. I took it to advance auto and had the battery starter and the alternator it all tested fine. I don’t know what else to look for my car is my D/D and now I will have to drive around with the jump box in the trunk. Any help you can give would be great.
something is killing your battery......... you need to find out what!! I would say that something did not check out fine if your battery is dead after a few hours.
Yea its a new battery and the connections clean and tight. The starter turns over the car just will not start. As soon as I jump it its fine and the car has started 3 times today no problem.
it would seem to me that if it starts from a jump it has to be battery or connections. and if it turns over either way, there is no electrical difference other than the jump providing more current to the starter. is the battery ground connection good on the car side (ie chassis ground) for the battery? it has to be the battery, connection or ground. someone chime in if bad connection at coil pack would be involved but it would not be different with a jump. the jump bypasses the battery ground and thus my reasoning

Ok, let's take a step back here. What you need to know is, the condition of the battery when it does not want to start. Like already stated by LightFighter_GXP, you may have something bringing the battery down....especially because it jump starts ok. I would audit the current draw with a DMM.
check out this thread from bill curlee. it talks about ground problems and ground locations. i still think you need to follow the battery ground cable.
