has anyone had an experience where the stock CD player will not read the CD and simply says "ERR" instead? yesterday, i ejected a CD and put another in and it wont play any CD any more.

Yes. It used be every once in a while, but lately its more frequent. Then again my car is 1998(97), so the player is 11 years old.

For mine, I'm not sure if its the weather like humidity. When cold it doesn't want to play, then after 5-10 minutes or so, I'll slide a CD in and it plays. Go figure...?

Just bought an 03 in January and the cd player was a major pita! Seemed like when I drove for a while running the heat, the cd player would finally take a disk and play. Got very tired of it and had a local audio shop install a kenwood tuner, cd player and also has ports for an ipod and a usb memory stik. Didn't think I would like the remote control but, love it. Kept the factory unit in case I ever want to sell the C-5.

When I had my factory deck it would do the same thing. Just use a cleaner disc and that will help. Keep it in the car.....you will need to use it often.

My 2000 started doing it when the car was about five years old. Cleaner disc didn't help for me and I couldn't find any other fix. Used ones are available in the FS section sometimes, but my solution was a wired ipod.

Un-plug the player, wait 5 minutes & plug it back in to re-set it.
