says 8 hours.

That is what I have seen also. I have also seen Shop charges in the $450 - $900 range for labor.

I just got all that done, and it costed 1400. I also had long tube headers though. I say anything around 800 is fair.
I want to say the book says 8-10 hours.

Was the 1400 just labor? Or was the clutch included, if so im assuming it was a clutch only, not a flywheel as well? Just curious, thanks, Jay

Quick question for any DIY'ers.

Doing a clutch swap do you have to remove the tranny w/ the whole driveterrain or can you just unbolt the torquetube (drive shaft looking thingy from engine and tranny) and just install the clutch right then and their. Since the clutch is located at the engine.

Also to OP. Install a remote line bleeder while it's apart just in case you experience any clutch related issues. 9/10 times weird peddle feel is the clutch fluid being contaminated and thus making the slave act up.

It's really easy to pull the whole assembly. Besides, if you've got some miles on your car, it's a good time to inspect the torque tube busings, etc.

According to Alldata, its supposedly 7-8 hours, but according to GM who pays the dealers for labor, its only 6 hours.

The job isn't as bad as it seems. After you're done. 7 to 8 hours is what most will base the job on. A lift would make it easier but they wont pass that ease on to you. When I did mine it was a 3 day job with 90 minutes on the 3rd day. The 1st day was wasted with the problems that pop up like broken bolts, wrong tool for removing the pilot bearing, problems separating the quick disconnect for the clutch master/slave with the proper tool, etc. Day 3 went easyier after I got the big slam hammer for the bushing. Reassembly was easy. I'd do the job again if need be.

I'd rethink your selection of clutches. No faith in factory clutches. Plenty of posts concerning factory clutches acting up. Lot's of aftermarket choices available with less complaints.

i got quoted from a local speed shop to do mine for $1800 with a clutch(my choice of stage), flywheel, all new hydraulics, new pilot, all done out the door for that cost. Expensive, yes, but i don't feel like doing it to be honest. i will likely give them a new remote bleeder and new TT bushings and have them throw them in while in there.

Yes 1400 was just labor. I spent $855 for a monster clutch (which included the fly wheel, pilot, slave, throw out. Because I had LT headers they had to be removed as well, which added a little while to the job.

Local performance shop in my area and a decade later is $3,000 for the same list you were provided. Good ol' inflation.
