WHEN WERE THE MAGNESUIM RIMS FIRST AN OPTION?
AND IS THERE A DATE CODE? THE ONES I BOUGHT HAVE THE TPMS CAN I PUT THEM ON MY 98 AND WILL THEY COMMUNICATE?
IF THERE IS A DIFFERENCE FROM YEAR TO YEAR ON TPMS, ARE ALL YEARS DIFFERENT? I WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE IN ADVANCE .

All TPS from 97-2001 are the same. There considered the OLD STYLE sensor. In 2001, GM went to a smaller sensor that operated on a different frequency.

Heres pictures of the two difference sensors:

OLD SENSOR (early type)

NEW STYLE SENSOR (late model)

You can NOT interchange sensors "UNLESS" you change out the RFA module and fobs.

The sensors what ever type you have should fit any GM C5 rim.

I'm not sure they were an option in 1997, but were in 98 for a mere 3K extra. They went to 2K extra in 2000. There is a date code/calander on the insite of the spokes. Made in Italy. Mark

I think you meant to say that the old style sensors are from 1997-2000.

Yes the were available in 97&98 however they were limited to export only because of the limited quantities.
That was the reason for the $3000.00 price tag.
Another interesting fact is they also came in 2 colors, the most recognized one is a Desert Sandrift, kind of a metallic bronze.
And the other color is a Metallic Charcoal, these were only sold on export cars.

I believe the last year was 2004, they are listed on my price sticker as a $900 option.
