I think I must have the bad ground on my tail lights and dash. It seems when I turn the head lights on sometimes the tail light come on and sometimes they dont. When they dont you can drive a while and they seem to come on. Now the lights on the cluster seems to be doing the same thing also. Is there a common ground point for these?
Well going thru some threads here it can also be the multi function turn signal head light switch. Also the brake lights do work when the tail light do not. I also had hit the fog light and no led came on the switch but not sure if I had the brights on or not I will check that tonight. I have had issues now I think about it of the head light not popping up. So it maybe the switch after all.

Possible multifunction switch issue. When the lights don't come on, do some voltage checks with a DMM to isolate. My guess is you have a lack of voltage, not a lack of ground.
Does the tail light go thru the multifunction switch?
sure does, the parking lights, interior lights, headlights etc all go through there. the fog lights do not. multifunction switches are a realtively common point of failure. there's a thread out there somewhere with a title similar to "Multifunciton switch failed decided to fix rather than replace" in which a few forum members show how they removed, disassembled and refurbished a failing multifunction switch. you might want to give that a try. they can sometimes be fixed just by bending the contacts some to make them connect with more force.
if its not salvagible you may have to buy a new one. the contacts inside can sometimes run too hot and melt the insides of the switch causing some contacts not to close properly.
