Default Reverse Lights Not Working

The reverse lights on my '03 Z06 are not illuminating when the reverse gear is engaged. They do, however, light up when the alarm is deactivated when unlocking the car. I'm guessing it's a switch on the tranny... Anyone had this issue before? How easy/hard is it to replace?

Thanks.

Wow, thanks for the schematic and information. Any idea how many hours would be involved for a skilled mechanic to perform this (not me)?

Mechanic would do it on a lift so would take about an hour, factoring r&r of h-pipe.
