Default C5 Stock Exhaust Removal Question

I have a set of Corsa exhaust(cat back).

So my question is can the one peices C5 stock exhaust pipes be removed from the car while the car is raised with ramps, or jack stands?

Is there enough clearance to do this without cutting the pipes in to peices?

Yes you can but a lift will be the best way to get the car high enough.

You can remove the stock mufflers/pipes in your garage without a lift, but you will need to raise the car approximately 34" under the stock tips to get it out once you unbolt it. I just did this to fit a Z06 TI system to my '02 coupe - with careful planning and some ingenuity you can get it high enough. I used lots of 12 inch slabs of 2x12 to raise the car in stages, and I stacked slabs under my 3 ton jack stands and my floor jack to get the necessary height. I also raised the front of the car and placed the front tires on Rhino ramps to hold the front end steady and keep the forward lean angle to a minimum. It gave me a few gray hairs to see the car that high but it was stable and it got the job done Good luck, and be careful - it is stupid to die under your car

Yes it can be done I did it roughly 3 weeks ago but it is quite the adventure....looking back I should have it in the yard then I can lift it so far and dig a hole to clear the tips when taking them down... That would be a lot safer

This is how high I went. Those are are 10x10 blocks. Make sure you raise the front end as well, or you will smash the front air dam into the ground. As has been stated before. GO SLOW and BE CAREFUL! A few hundred dollars savings is not worth your life........Dave

I think it will be cheaper and less hassle to just take it to a shop with a lift, toss someone $10-$20 to just lift it an remove the four bolts then slide it out.
much cheaper than chopping up a $350-400 exhaust or building a Noah's ark in your garage

I would have loved taking my car to a shop but frankly no one in my area was willing to do it for less than $100 -- plus I'm paranoid about other people messing with my car. I was able to take my time and clean up the underside before putting my TI system on, something a shop would never do... not to mention torquing all the fasteners properly. The rear sway bar needs to come down to provide clearance and the lower bolts are suspension pivots so they should be torqued with the weight of the car on the suspension - try to tell that to some kid at a muffler shop Total cost for all the 2x12 I needed was $23, and that included paying them to cut it for me, and I'll be able to use it again for the next lifting exercise The satisfaction of doing this job yourself is worth something too.

If you have 2 jacks,by placing one at each rear side jacking point, it will allow proper height to remove mufflers. Using this jacking method will also slightly raise the nose as well therefor eliminating spoiler issues.
My jacks were not fully extended here as I was dropping cradle for differential side cover replacement.
