Getting new Tires will an allignment fix my problem??
I need new tires cause my old ones are worn out. But on the fron driver side the inner is very worn out to the point that i can feel steel. Even on the back tire my inner not as worn out as the outside. If i get new tires will an allignment fix my problem with the uneven tire wear? My car is also lowerd about an inich on stock bolts.
As long as all the suspension components are in good condition, the correct alignment should reduce your tire wear.
Make sure you tell the alignment shop that you want the front camber no more than -1/8 degree, and toe-in zero to 1/32".
Don't just tell them to check to see if settings are within the factory specs. On a Z06, GM allows up to -1.2 degrees negative camber, but that will result in significant inside tire wear for street driving.
Sure sounds like it. As recommended, make sure the shop knows the tires need to be aligned pretty much flat because with 8"-12" of tire width any significant camber will really put the load to the inside of the wheel.
I'm glad this thread came up because I have noticed in a bit over 3000 miles in almost 2 months, that the drivers side front inner tire has been wearing more than any other tire. I have to have negative camber on that wheel as well.
I had my '99 alignment checked after I lowered it on the stock bolts, and the front tires still have plenty of tread after ~ 40k miles. Very even wear. I would recommend anyone get it re-aligned after lowering.
