Default Column Lock New Issues - Update

Hi All,

Last week my car started throwing the column lock code. I looked into everythign that is listed in the sticky and even spoke to John the sticky owner. The difference in mine is that my car will not idle and dies 8 seconds after starting. It is a 2002 z06. anyone else seen this ?

I had the traction control/abs disconnected because its going out for repair. I plugged it back in, and it now idles and dies at 2mph.

What makes you think the two are related?

The column lock system should not affect the idle.
It either cuts the fuel off completely, or it doesn't when you drive over 2-3 MPH.

The only reason I thought they were related is they happened at the same time.

just buy the clb and check if ur battery is good. the main cause of the colum lock is a weak battery. if it still's dies post up another thread with a diffrent title cause more than likely alot of people are goin to check this thread due to a new one posted everyday about the colum lock problems.

Ok will do, what was throwing me was the fact that it dies after 8 seconds regardless, thought maybe soemthing else going on.

I think you are right that something else is going on besides just the BCM not getting the correct signal from the column lock actuator.

Do you still have the column lock system as it came from the factory?
The car should still idle normally until you try to drive it.

So here is where it stands. When I got under the drivers side of dash I found the K harness unplugged and wire tied in. Column does not lock. have pulled fuses multilpe times. Tried to install K harness no change.

Question is..From what I have read there is possiblly a second recall for MN12 that if K harness is found to unplug it and add another relay on pass side. I have torn pass side apart and cannot find anything.

Also from what i understand the CLB will not fix a code that has alkready thrown, will buying it help me now ?

Listen to 8VETTE7, he is probably the most well versed on this subject.

Chuck, thank you so much for the above post! I have read every one of your posts and know that you have done considerable research on this problem. I installed the CLB as soon as I got on this board and started reading of this problem. The above pretty well sums up the situation and explains everything.

For those of you out there that do not have an after market CLB, please get one soon!
