Default header question

what do you do to stop the car throwing codes when you remove the two front oxygen sensors to put in street long tubes with high flow cats.

I know you can have custom tune but looking for cheap alternative. does anyone make plug in simulators like the cags plug in that will make the computer think they are still conected.

I know you can program out or remove the rear, but I think you need
to have the front ones.

After lots of messing around with my 02 I finally put rear 02 sensors up front and - no codes. You need plug in adapters and you can get them from LG Motorsports. Call them at 972-429-1963.

You need the front sensors; rears can be a) removed and have sensor readings disabled by tune or left in place and sometimes no codes or remove codes via tune. They used to sell 02 simulators to fool/simulate your rear o2's but they don't seem to anymore.

I recently installed Kooks headers and hiflow catted X-pipe in my o2 C5. I reinstalled front o2s to headers and rears in new X-pipe after cats. When first starting, I got the p0300 code and a few more. Shut it down and checked all coil connections, o2 connections, vacuum, intake, and everything touched during install. Found loose vacuum clamp by brake booster and loose clamp on cai bellow. Tightened them up, cleared codes, and started car and P0300 code was gone, but still had some fuel trim codes because of cai and headers. Bought a Diablo Predator tuner used from a forum memeber and adjusted fuel trims plus added a performance tune. Now car runs very strong without any codes.

The issue we are having is, i believe that this car previously had a performance tune and was not displaying any codes, for some reason the car had some issues and was re-downloaded with the factory tune and now we are getting 02 sensor codes (as front sensors have been removed for longtubes) and service active handling message and illuminated engine light and traction control light.

Can you use a tech 2 to tune out the 02 sensor codes?????

As far as I know, you cannot remove the front o2 sensors without getting trouble codes. Those front sensors gather necessary info for engine management, and what changes need to be made. Some people take the rear sensors and replace the front sensors with them. The rear sensor is shrouded differently than the front, and supposively gives a better read to engine management when using longtube headers. Then, if you still have cats, you can get another pair of rear sensors and install them after cats, or turn them (rear sensors) off with early made (revision 2.13) Diablo Predator handheld tuner, or have a pro tuner do this.

Thanks for the info.

Maybe it has the front sensors installed in the rear near the cats, i am not sure i just know two are missing and i assumed it was the front two because there were two in place at the back near the cats.
The car is not here right now it at the body shop getting some paint work done. I will have it back at the end of the week and will have a look exactly which sensors are on it and there exact location.
