If you have a friend willing to help you it makes life a lot easier to have one under the car and one above. Below you can pull the tensioner back and hold it without a problem.
In front of the A/C tensioner there are 2 brass pipes (appear to be from the condenser) that block access to the tensioner from above and below the car. We tried squeezing the torque wrench between the pipes to try and access the tensioner, but with no luck. I'm assuming this is a problem all of you faced when replacing your A/C belts, so how do I get around this?
Hi, i tried to install the belt and it didnt work out.. I took it to an autoshop and they said that my tensioner is "broken" and it needs to be changed.. they claim that it would cost me $300 including labor charges.. what do i do?

After fighting with mine for several hours I drove it to the dealer and they replaced the belt (I supplied) for $80 labor........best $80 I ever spent.
Have you already replaced the tensioner pully or the entire tensioner assembly and just can't get the belt back on ?
I used shock cords to pull the condensor pipes apart just enough to get a short extension and socket through to remove the bolts. That got the tensioner off and I replaced the pully and reinstalled it. But I could not wrangle the belt back on.
