If drain my red top down it will never hold a charge again. Not complaining one way or another but that is my experience.

When I was researching whether or not to get the Optima, I read that it isn't good to leave an AGM battery sitting around to discharge with no use.

They don't do well with it. Makes sense to me since there's less acid in them than a regular battery.

They probably sulfate quicker or something.

12.6V or higher: 100% charge
12.4V - 12.6V: 75-100%
12.2V - 12.4V: 50-75%
12.0V - 12.2V: 25-50%
11.7V - 12.0V: 0-25%
11.7V or less: 0% (and probably not capable of being recharged).

Shows you how a couple of volts can damage a battery!

If I recall correctly, when I talked to Optima Tech Dept they said they consider the battery totally dead at 10.5 volts, not 11.7 or less.

But technically, it depends on the discharge rate (C/xx number). See PDF link and charts in the tech info:

This is excellent info. It is not exactly for starting batteries but does cover them very well. It will help those with RVs a bunch also. Later! Frank
